We evaluate the physical, chemical, and geological properties of dimension stones to assess their suitability for façade, pavement, and cladding use. Testing covers petrography, bulk density, water absorption, elemental chemistry, stain and water repellence, and slip resistance.
We advise on the content and curation of geological and fossil museums. Past projects include consulting for Nina Park (a wood fossil museum), the Tram Museum (K-Pg boundary and rock sample displays), and the Stephen Hui Geological Museum (Minerals gallery), along with docent and curation training.
We organize and plan excursion itineraries, field stops, and academic content for local and overseas trips. Past excursions have taken us across Asia — including China, Tibet, Taiwan, and Hong Kong — as well as North America, Cyprus, Italy, Iceland, Greenland, Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica.
We provide specialized services in support of geological and geophysical projects. Examples include producing two volumes on Hong Kong's natural and ecological environment for the Hong Kong Chronicles Center, a commissioned study on quarrying history, a survey of radon levels in households, and field trials applying geophysical techniques to ground investigation and environmental assessment. Techniques trialed include seismic methods (surface wave, HVSR, and others), electrical, electromagnetic, magnetic, infrared thermography, and ground-penetrating radar.
